Loss of Sports Facilities in Enfield
  FACILITY NOTES
1 Playing fields on the site of the Sainsbury's development, Palmers Green Playing fields were lost when the Sainsbury supermarket development went ahead in Palmers Green. Loss of 2 football pitches
2 Enfield Town Squash facility The Enfield Town Squash facility was closed when the Tescos development went ahead (on the former Cinema site). Loss of 4 courts.
3 Oakthorpe Road playing fields The loss of part of the playing fields at Oakthrope Road (Mosque development), formerly owned by City University. Loss of 1 football pitch.
4 "Starks Field" playing pitches Loss of part of the land next to the east of Edmonton Sports Club (formerly known as "Sparks Field") where a primary school has been built. Loss of 1 football pitch.
5 Metal Box Sports Ground Loss of the Metal Box sports ground in north Tottenham, formerly owned by the Church Commissioners. Loss of 2 football pitches.
6 Edmonton Sports Centre closure Loss of 3 squash courts and the diving facility at the old Edmonton Leisure Centre
7 Barrowell Green Open Air Swimming Pool The Barrowell Green swimming pool, with diving boards was closed in 1979. A reclying centre now occupies the site.
8 Picketts Lock Sports Centre Closure of Picketts Lock Sports Centre. Loss of 8 Badminton courts.
9 King George V Playing fields Loss of part of King George V Playing Fields at the southern end, to accommodate an extended primary school. 
10 Enfield Stadium Loss of Enfield Stadium, former home of Enfield FC
11 Bourneside Tennis Club Loss of Club facilities at Bourneside, including Bourneside Tennis Club N14 6RA ( 8 Courts) 
12 Arundel Tennis Club and Sunnyside Tennis Club Arundel Tennis Club in Winchmore Hill and Sunnyside Tennis Club (which was behind the spinney on the left as you go up Clay Hill) , lost their facilities in the early 1970’s. 
13 Aylward Lower school playing pitches The large school playing fields around what was Aylward Lower school on Wilbury Way Edmonton, and also bordered by Bull Lane and the North Circular Road were sold to housing when the school was developed onto the site off Silver St. This happened in the mid ‘80’s.
14 Playing Fields behind Oakwood school The playing fields that were behind Oakwood School have now been lost to a housing development.
15 Lost cricket squares in parks  There are no longer any cricket squares in Oakwood Park or Grovelands Park.
16   When Minchenden School in High Street, Southgate, was combined with Arnos School in the late 1980s or early 1990s to form Broomfield School, 21 acres of sports grounds were lost.
17 Former Southgate County School sports ground The old Southgate County School sports grounds in Fox Lane, Palmers Green, have been replaced by a housing development.
18 Closure of Southgate; Glencain; Enfield Park; Jubilee; Albany and Albert Bowls Clubs. Six bowls clubs have closed in Enfield in the last 10 years. 
19 Bridge Road snooker club Bridge Road snooker club has closed.
20 Montague Road Cycle Speedway Track  The cycle track has closed.
