Enfield Sport receives a weak response from
Enfield Council about the new Local Plan
Enfield Sport has received a letter from Enfield Council (on 9/1/20) that fails to provide any concrete commitments to ensuring that open space, sports pitches and playing fields will be properly protected in the new Local Plan. Given that the Council's Property Services department is adopting a purely commercial approach when dealing with sports clubs (eg over Leases and rentals) and views all open space as land that could potentially be developed (eg Whitewebbs Park); there is every likelihood that such land will increasingly be under threat in the future.
Enfield Sport have recently sent a letter to the Council (dated 8/2/20), which sets out the key issues that are outstanding and which were not addressed in the Council letter.
A meeting is take place between Enfield Sport and Council representatives, at some point in the next month or so. A further update will be posted on the web site after that meeting.
