1.

Welcome / Introductions

Action

SP welcomed everyone and thanked SR  / Enfield Drill Hall for hosting the meeting. All attendees introduced themselves. SR provided attendees with information about the Drill Hall's history and current issues being addressed by the Committee. SP said that SR and the Committee had done a great job recovering a very difficult situation facing the Drill Hall a year ago.

 
LC said that it would be worth SR making contact with the Over 50s Forum. SR
   
2. Minutes of the last General Meeting on 17/7/18  
(Some of the items contained in the Minutes were discussed, but they "overlap" other items on this agenda, so this discussion is captured below).  
Peter Gilbert pointed out that he had attended the last meeting.  
Note from BK - PG has been added to the attendance list for the last general meeting.  
   
3. Finance Update  

HW advised that Enfield Sport currently had £857.39 in its bank account, which included a £100 compensation payment from the Bank (for poor service).

 
It was agreed, in principal, that a limited amount of money should be spent on an advert in the local papers and/or the Enfield Council magazine. SP and HW to progress. HW/SR

Enfield Sport membership

 

SP said that only 7 clubs had completed membership forms and paid their membership fees for the 2018 year. All clubs who have not yet completed forms / paid their membership fees were asked to do so asap.

Discussion took place on how to encourage clubs to join Enfield Sport. The following ideas were put forward:
(i) Clubs need to see more happening and to see the concrete benefits that could materialise if they joined Enfield Sport;
(ii) Enfield Sport should produce a map, or encourage the Council to produce one, showing the location of all sports clubs in the borough;
(iii) Enfield Sport should ask the clubs what help they require, by providing them with a check list that they could respond to.

5. Web Site update  

The web site needs to have a higher profile on Google. Can more tags be created to address this? Can clubs be sent the existing tags and be asked to add to the list? SP to discuss with BK.

6.

Funding Opportunities  

SP advised that the new London Mayor's Sports Strategy provided opportunities for organisations to bid for funding, for sports projects that encouraged social cohesion. SP said that he would be talking to Enfield Council about possible bids focused on the east of the borough (potentially including Tottenham).

SR mentioned that the Drill Hall was applying to the Enfield Society for funds.  
SG said that the ECB / Lords had funds available to develop womens/ girls cricket and he was hoping to develop a project in partnership with Edmonton County school.  
MS advised that the Football Association were looking to invest several million pounds in to a "Park Life" project at Bull Lane sports ground, which would include two new full size synthetic pitches.  
   
7.

Enfield Leisure and Cultural Partnership Group meeting

 

SP provided feedback on the main issues that were discussed at the last leisure and Cultural Partnership Group meeting. There were important presentations on the Enfield Playing Pitch Strategy and the Local Plan. SP said that he thought the key issue was to ensure that the protection given to playing fields and sports pitches in the Playing Pitch Strategy were also reflected in the Local Plan.

 
MS mentioned that there was a meeting coming up on the Green Belt and asked if anyone from Enfield Sport was attending. SP said he would look in to it. SP
   
8. Significant issues facing individual clubs  

HW advised that he would be meeting with Council officers to discuss outstanding lease issues relating to Ellenborough table tennis club.

SR said that the main issue facing the Drill hall was to finalise a Lease with Enfield Council.

9. AOB  

MD said that ECYPS had taken a number of young people over to Gladbech for a sports event and that a return visit is due to be arranged.

 
Discussion took place as to whether Enfield Sport could take on a more proactive role in relation to sports events, linked to town twinning with Gladbech. It was agreed that Enfield Sport did not currently have the resources available to become proactively involved.  
   
10. Date of next Meeting  

It was agreed that the next ESAC General Meeting would take place after the AGM in December 2018 (date to be confirmed).

 
SP will see if the meeting can take place at the Enfield Civic Centre. SP
